About Us
Mission:
Hillel at SIU’s mission is to create a diverse, pluralistic, vibrant community which empowers undergraduate and graduate students to grow through religious, educational, social justice, Israeli, and social programming. Through relevant, innovative events, we reiterate the importance of closeness to faith, Jewish tradition and values: in short, creating and enhancing Jewish campus life.
Director
We are very happy to announce our new Hillel director, Joe Brown. He majored in social science at Indiana University Bloomington and has earned a certificate in Jewish studies from the Borns Jewish studies Program. He taught religious school for three years at Shaarey Teffila of Indianapolis and staffed a teen community volunteer camp at the Jewish Community Center of Indianapolis. He also has organized and attended the Darfur rally in Washington D.C. Joe currently serves part time in the Army National Guard as a Medic. He enjoys playing madden football, drinking coffee and tea, and enjoys a good book.
